Oliver Bierhoff

Oliver Bierhoff, one of the football players who take a long time to get well-known to everyone, is a former forward and the captain of Germany national team.

As a large and prolific striker, Bierhoff is both strong and powerful, who plays mainly as a target man in the centre-forward role. Known for his aerial ability, he is able to execute headers with extreme precision, having scored several critical goals in the air throughout his career, for both club and country.

When Rudi Völler and Jürgen Klinsmann showed their talents and skills in football fields, Bierhoff was just a common person. After Rudi Völler hung up his boots, Bierhoff became the new partner of Jürgen Klinsmann, then he had the chance to play for national team and show him perfectly.

It was the first time that he had put on Germany football shirt and played in 1996 UEFA European Championship as a substitute. However, to everyone’s surprise, he scored and helped his team catch up with Czech national team. Finally, he shot the ball, which made Germany national team become the champion. Therefore, he became a hero of Germans.

After two years, Bierhoff became the Serie A top scorer when he was 30 years old. At the same time, he became the captain of the Germany national team. In 2003, 36-year-old Bierhoff announced his retirement.

Bierhoff wrote the wonderful chapter for his life. Although he was 28 years old when he was playing for Germany national team, and he just played 6 years, Bierhoff had 35 shoots and ranked 6th among excellent players. Besides, he, appointed as the captain of the national team, participated in World Cup two times and scored four goals totally. He once won a World Cup runner-up.
